The second-largest China-based food manufacturing company, Bright Food, has had one of its products, Cupid Farm Milk, go live for tracking on BrightCode, a blockchain solution running on top of the VeChainThor blockchain.
VeChainWorld reports that Bright Food first revealed the new solution at the China International Import Expo in November 2018, and that the latest iteration is a result of several rounds of refinement. Cupid Farm Milk was chosen as one of the first products to be integrated with the BrightCode platform, and other products are expected to follow.
Users can scan the QR code on the milk bottles to trace the path that the product has taken along the supply chain, getting such information as the source of the milk, the environment in which it was produced and so on.
Data from 2014 shows that Bright Food generates an annual revenue of $19 billion. The company deals primarily with food and beverage products.
VeChain is one of the top projects in the supply chain niche, working in several niches like tobacco, luxury goods, liquor, fashion retail and, of course, food and beverages. The project has already participated in several tests with entities both inside and outside of China.
