The leading US-based crypto exchange and wallet service, Coinbase, has launched an innovative new program enabling Coinbase users to learn about cryptocurrency and earn crypto assets when they do.
The initiative is part of the 12 days of Coinbase announcements and marks their 10th announcement to date. They call the educational program “Coinbase Earn” and launched it on December 19 on an invitation-only mode to manage demand.
The announcement stated:
Coinbase Earn allows users to earn cryptocurrencies while learning about them in a simple and engaging way. The idea is for users to understand more about an asset’s utility and its underlying technology while getting a bit of the asset to try out.
Initially, invited Coinbase users will learn about the ERC-20 token, 0x (ZRX) and earn ZRX tokens to do so. It will require them to take short video lessons and quizzes and will earn rewards of a small amount of the ZRX cryptocurrency.
Users need an invitation to earn cryptocurrency but any Coinbase user can view the educational content for free. Also, anyone can sign up on a wait list and receive notification when more educational content and tasks become available.
As the program develops, there will be more and more user invitations to learn and earn, and with new cryptocurrency assets featured in the program.
Coinbase Pro has recently added trading for 0x (ZRX), Basic Attention Token (BAT), ZCash (ZEC), Decentraland (MANA), Civic (CVC), Loom Network (LOOM), District0x (DNT), Dai (DAI), Maker (MKR), Golem Network Token (GNT) and Ziliqa (ZIL).
Therefore, we can expect to see educational content for one of these or one of their originally listed cryptos soon.
Increase Crypto Adoption Through Education
The central idea behind this project is to foster the learning of additional cryptocurrency assets so that users can make better informed investment decisions and expand their cryptocurrency knowledge and portfolio.
Earlier this year, Coinbase conducted a survey of cryptocurrency users regarding the biggest barriers preventing them from exploring new digital assets.
The survey revealed that users had a lack of knowledge about other crypto assets beyond Bitcoin, and they didn’t know where to learn about them.
Therefore, the exchange giant believes their new Coinbase Earn program will provide users with valuable information and encourage users to broaden their horizons and take part in a broader market of cryptocurrencies.
Other Crypto Education Initiatives
Coinbase isn’t the only exchange to promote and curate educational content for their users.
The world’s largest crypto exchange by daily trading volume, Binance, has also launched a collection of educational content. Earlier this month Binance issued almost 500 articles providing unbiased information about cryptocurrency and blockchain technology.
The blockchain startup and incubator, Consensys partnered with Coursera, an online education platform. Together, they will offer users a blockchain education program to educate people on the use cases, technologies, and foundations of cryptocurrency and blockchain.
People, businesses, and organizations in the cryptocurrency industry are spreading awareness and adoption through means of education. This educational movement is a necessary and well-needed initiative to improve crypto adoption and promote safe investment and usage practices.
