New Zealand crypto exchange Cryptopia suffered a data breach on January 14, officials announced on Twitter. Trading has been suspended and the site will be under maintenance until the issue is resolved.
The team has already taken the matter up with governmental agencies, and the New Zealand police and high-tech crimes unit.
No details as to the amount of lost funds have been made public yet. Cryptopia becomes the first exchange to be hacked in 2019.
WhalePanda, a Bitcoin proponent, said that the exchange is now mostly irrelevant. The market yet hasn’t been affected in any noticeable way.
