EOS Founder Claims He Could Easily Take Down Bitcoin and Ethereum – Also States Why He Hasn’t Done That Yet

Dan Larimer, the increasingly outspoken, often at the expense of tactfulness, founder of EOS and co-founder of Steem, is at it again, lambasting cryptocurrency projects other than his own.

As previously reported IIB, Larimer criticized Ethereum (ETH), Cardano (ADA), and Litecoin (LTC) in the same Telegram chat where he hinted there’s a big announcement coming for EOS.

Now, just a few days later, Larimer took to Twitter (March 27) and Telegram (March 28), where he criticized Ethereum (ETH) once again, also taking shots at Bitcoin (BTC).

Bitcoin and Ethereum Networks Are Vulnerable

EOS has long been criticized for its issues surrounding centralization. The project’s governance structure gives substantial power to 21 so-called “Block Producers” (BPs) who have the ability to reverse transactions and even freeze accounts.

However, Larimer denies that EOS’s structure is centralized, less secure, and less transparent. In fact, he claims that he alone has the ability to take down the top 2 cryptocurrencies, Bitcoin and Ethereum, with just a few resources.

Taking his claim to Twitter, Larimer went on a tangent with a series of tweets that all started from the one below:

Further along in the Twitter threat Larimer became more heated, stating:

“How many people would you have to hold hostage to censor all transactions on your ‘decentralized’ chain? How long would it take to recover?… I could take down (Bitcoin) and (Ethereum) for quite a while with just 3 pool operators.”

One prominent crypto analyst who took exception to Larimer’s rant was Tone Vays. In response to Larimer’s tweets, Vays pointed out 4 of Larimer’s previous projects “centralized scams” being ProShares, BitShares, Steem, and EOS.

It’s also worth noting that Larimer has since abandoned 3 of these projects and only works on EOS now.

Moreover, Vays said:

By the end of this thread, Larimer never did provide any evidence to prove that such an attack from him is even feasible. When challenged to put his money where his mouth is by Twitter user @chengdoo, Larimer backed down.

Larimer Thinks Vitalik Should Step Away from Ethereum (ETH)

Apart from Larimer’s Twitter rant on March 27, he also engaged his following on Telegram, where he gave more hints about the upcoming EOS announcement and took another jab at Ethereum.

According to a saved transcript from EOSWriter.io, Larimer proclaimed that everyone knows about Block.one and that people in DC want to collaborate EOS. He then said that Vitalik should leave Ethereum and join Block.one and help them with EOS.

Per the Telegram group, Larimer’s words read:

“Trump’s advisors know about Block.one. Everyone in DC wants to talk with us… Vitalik and I could do great things if he would step away from ETH.”

All in all, Larimer has been rather cocky and outspoken as of late. Perhaps his big announcement for EOS really is something to gloat about. However, we shall wait and see.

Do you think Larimer could actually take down Bitcoin and Ethereum? Will the EOS announcement be as big as Larimer is making it out to be? Let us know what you think in the comment section below.
