After much rumor and expectation that its Brave Ads program would see a general release by the end of this month, the Brave and Basic Attention Token (BAT) project has finally done so, taking a step forward in their goal to make the digital advertising space a little more fair for users and content creators.
Brave co-founder and CEO, Brendan Eich, emphasized the fairer nature of the system, saying,
With Brave Ads, we are launching a digital ad platform that is the first to protect users’ data rights and to reward them for their attention. Brave Ads also aim to improve the economics and conversion of the online advertising industry, so that publishers and advertisers can thrive without the intermediaries that collect huge fees and that contribute to web-wide surveillance. Privacy by design and no tracking are integral to our mission to fix the Web and its funding model.
The release also states that the team is working on growing its list of partners, and entities like Vice, eToro, and MyCrypto are already showing advertisements.
