Justin Sun, the CEO of Tron (TRX) who’s notorious for his questionable marketing tactics, announced via Twitter an official partnership with the Liverpool Football Club (LFC).
However, as with all of Sun’s PR tweets, they should be taken with a grain of salt, because you never know when he’s telling the truth.
According to Decrypt Media, the legendary Liverpool Football Club denies any official partnerships with Tron or its CEO, Sun.
As reported, an LFC spokesperson said:
“Liverpool Football Club has confirmed that it does not have a partnership with Tron.”
This is all very strange considering how adamant Sun was about announcing this fake partnership. Following his initial tweet announcing the partnership, one of Sun’s followers asked what this invitation was for.
Sun replied with a tweet stating:
It appears that Sun has a compulsive need to hype his cryptocurrency projects, whether the developments, partnerships, or achievements are true or not. And this isn’t the first shady thing Sun has done to draw attention to the Tron cryptocurrency – not by a long shot.
As previously reported by IIB, Sun was involved in a scandal surrounding a botched Tesla raffle that he used to hype up his Tron (TRX) and BitTorrent (BTT) projects.
Also, much of the crypto community point out that Tron was based off lies from the very start, as its whitepaper contained material plagiarized from Ethereum’s whitepaper.
According to the Liverpool spokesperson who spoke with Decrypt, the invitation Sun received was one of many video invitations that were emailed to many companies in efforts to stay up to speed on new developments in technology.
See below, a screenshot of Decrypt’s communication with the Liverpool spokesperson explaining the reasoning for Tron’s invitation:
Therefore, it’s evident that Sun simply put this email invitation in a fancy tablet device and tried to pass it off as a formal video invitation regarding an official partnership.
It boggles the mind that Sun would go to such lengths to hype his cryptocurrency project, and – considering there was no way he wouldn’t get caught out with this – it smacks of desperation.
