John McAfee recently tweeted that he was aware of Satoshi Nakamoto’s true identity, and said that he would soon reveal it. However, a new tweet by McAfee now has him say that he will not reveal the identity of Nakamoto, for fear of being extradited.
Having previously said that he would reveal the identity “within a week”, McAfee is now distancing himself from the possibility, referring to the fact that revealing the identity could influence his fight against extradition to the US,
John McAfee, ever one to rouse attention, has been teasing the cryptocommunity regarding the identity of Nakamoto, though whether or not he does know the true of identity of Satoshi is up for debate. He has said that finding the bitcoin creator was “a piece of cake.”
McAfee also claimed that he had spoken to Satoshi and that the latter “was furious” because of McAfee’s wish to reveal his identity, saying,
I’ve spoken with him, and he is not a happy camper about my attempt to out him.
McAfee is well known for his grand statements, such as saying that bitcoin would hit $1 million by 2020, but the cryptocommunity is also mostly skeptical of his claims. Several users have posted cheeky responses to his claim that he is aware of Satoshi’s identity, and most are disbelieving of the thought.
