Ripple’s (XRP) cryptocurrency is known for having the largest and most vocal crypto community in the industry.XRP supporters are collectively referred to as the “XRP Army,” and they not only support the crypto but actively push for its adoption.
Holding true to their nature, the XRP Army recently infiltrated Skype’s customer feedback page, where Skype customers are welcome to post recommendations for improving the telecommunications app and vote for their implementation.
XRP Army Pushes Skype to Accept XRP for Micropayments
On March 20, 2019, a group of XRP supporters from the XRP Army posted a request on Skype’s customer feedback page that elaborately details the key aspects of why Skype should consider accepting XRP for micropayments on the platform.
Per the customer feedback post, a user by the name of David Olliver wrote:
“Dear Skype, The age of MicroPayments has come and we need your support. The era of the Internet of Value is knocking at the door. My idea is to implement micropayments on Skype. Allow us to buy SkypeCredits with XRpTipBot, allow us to send micropayments on Skype chat as well.”
Following the initial plea to allow XRP for micropayments, the post provided detailed information about the XRP TipBot, links to XRP community forums, the XRP Github, developer docs, Twitter, and more.
At the time of writing, the suggested idea outlined in the post has over 560 votes from Skype members and is located in the hot section of Skype’s uservoice domain (public customer feedback page). Also, XRP enthusiasts have left 3 pages of comments in favor of the idea.
Skype Changes Title of XRP Army Post To Be More Open for All Cryptocurrencies
Following the detailed proposal, the Skype team responded to the post and quickly edited its title from “Add XRP micropayments to Skype” to “Add Cryptocurrency micropayments to Skype (XRP and others).”
This was done to allow for a more general discussion, as Skype could very well implement other forms of cryptocurrencies in addition to XRP.
As for Skype’s response to the idea, the Skype administrator didn’t show any specific indication that they will integrate crypto or XRP into Skype. However, they did acknowledge that this is a very cool idea and they will share it with their team.
Adding to this, the Skype administrator said:
“Like any other leading technology company, Microsoft is already testing blockchain. Although I don’t have any information about cryptocurrency adoption for Skype or any other MS product, please keep continuing supporting this Idea. I will share it with our teams :)”
The XRP Army is still pushing for Skype to take notice of their open letter and accept XRP for micropayments. In an effort to get more upvotes on the uservoice domain, Olliver urged his Twitter followers to visit the Skype page and vote.
#XRPCommunity let's make it happen. Need your votes! Do you use @Skype? Do you want @xrptipbot on Skype as well? Then come and vote! https://t.co/kliNhoZr68@jeremy_87110 @TheRippleTrader @DaniTorres0407 @NordicAnn @WietseWind @calvincs @PattyB09952203 @israelmuca
