Ripple’s Xpring Invests in XRPL Labs — What Impact Will This Have on the XRP Ecosystem?

Xpring, an initiative by Ripple that invests, incubates, acquires and provides grants to companies and projects run by proven entrepreneurs, has announced in a blog post on Medium that they’re investing in prominent developer Wietse Wind to further develop and build out the XRP ecosystem.

Per the blog post written by Vanessa Pestritto:

At Xpring, we are focused on growing the ecosystems around the Interledger Protocol and XRP Ledger. To do so, we need to work with developers that share our vision of inter-operable blockchains and new use cases for XRP. One of those developers is Wietse Wind.

Wietse Wind: The Famed XRP Developer and Enthusiast

Wind is a well-known developer famed by the XRP community for his creation of the XRP Tip Bot and XRPL Labs. He understands the protocols and technical details of the XRP Ledger and Interledger Protocol on a deep level and is a proven entrepreneur who has successfully grown multiple companies.

By investing in Wind, Xpring will be bringing the much-needed capital for Wind’s XRPL Labs to develop and create products with use cases for XRP.

XRPL Labs has already worked on a number of prominent projects, including a DEX UI where users can trade XRP with IOUs or vice versa, a cold storage OS, and a signing platform to easily interact with the XRP Ledger.

As well, Wind is famed by the XRP community for developing the XRP Tip Bot with its innovative design and ease of use for tipping with XRP on established social media platforms such as Twitter and Reddit.

With Wind’s previous success at developing XRP products that provide actual retail use cases of XRP, it’s expected that Xpring’s investment will go to good use.
