Satoshi Nakamoto’s identity has always been somewhat of a holy grail for crypto-enthusiasts – even though it makes no practical difference to the market – and the speculation has reached something of a peak since Craig Wright’s assertion that he is in fact Satoshi and John McAfee’s claims that he is aware of Satoshi’s identity. That speculation continues, as one website – called GotSatoshi – claims that it will reveal Satoshi’s identity tomorrow, on May 14.
The unveiling is scheduled for 15:50 GMT, which, as people have pointed out, comes right in the middle of the Consensus conference in New York.
The website features a countdown timer and allows users to sign up by email for notifications.
Don’t be too surprised if the final reveal is far from convincing, though. Several Twitter users have already said that the only proof they will accept is the use of Satoshi’s private key – and that does not seem likely to happen.
John McAfee previously said that he was aware of Satoshi’s identity, but would not reveal it for fear of extradition.
