Local South Korean news outlet, Queen, reports that the capital city of Seoul will launch a blockchain-based citizen card as a part of its smart city initiative. Mayor Park Won-soon announced the blockchain initiative at the Korea Future Forum 2019 & Blockchain Tech Show.
Won-soon acknowledged that many new technologies could bring great benefits and that it had many applications, some of which have already been implemented in South Korea – such as in an e-voting system that uses blockchain.
