Serena Williams Invests In Coinbase, Revealed on Instagram

Serena Williams, the world’s most successful women’s tennis player, has revealed in an Instagram post that her venture capital firm called Serena Ventures is invested in America’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, Coinbase.

Williams announced her VC firm via the popular social media platform late last week, revealing that it was secretly established in 2014 and listed some of the fund’s more prominent investments, including Coinbase and other early-stage companies.

VC Firm Serena Ventures

In William’s Instagram post, she described the types of companies and startups her firm invests in, stating:

“In 2014, (yes I know I can keep a secret) I launched Serena Ventures with the mission of giving opportunities to founders across an array of industries. Serena Ventures invests in companies that embrace diverse leadership, individual empowerment, creativity and opportunity.”

According to the Serena Ventures website, the fund invests in founders who are changing the world with their ideas and products. Currently, the fund includes more than 30 innovative companies in its portfolio, with a total market capitalization of $12 billion.

The fact that Coinbase is included in William’s portfolio shows that the cryptocurrency industry is of high interest to venture capitalists, and awareness of this industry is increasingly growing.

Does Serena Williams Invest in Crypto?

Since Williams has included America’s largest cryptocurrency exchange in her VC portfolio of over 30 companies, it begs the question: does she invest in crypto?

While she has not publically come out stating that she invests in Bitcoin (BTC) or other crypto assets, it seems likely that she would, seeing as her VC firm is all about embracing “diverse leadership, individual empowerment, creativity and opportunity,” which is a lot of what crypto stands for as well.

Do you think Serena Williams has invested in Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies? Might her firm Serena Ventures start to invest in other crypto projects down the line? Let us know what you think in the comment section below.
