Tron Has Fastest-Growing Dapp User Base, Most of Them High-Risk Casinos

Some of the most highly anticipated blockchain projects are protocols that can facilitate smart contracts and host decentralized applications. There are a number of promising large-cap projects competing in this space, including Ethereum (ETH), EOS (EOS), Cardano (ADA), and Tron (TRX).

It’s hard to say who’s winning the race to become the best blockchain protocol, as there are a number of different metrics one could look at.

However, one metric taken into account is the number of decentralized applications (dapps) being developed and a number of users they have, as it shows real adoption.

Tron Has Fastest-Growing Dapp User Base

A new report released on April 9 by the dapp analytics website DApp.com reveals that Tron (TRX), the 11th-ranked cryptocurrency by market cap, has the fastest-growing dapp user base, while Ethereum (ETH), the 2nd-ranked crypto by market cap, has a user base that’s dwindling.

While this is quite impressive for Tron, it’s important to note that the majority of Tron’s most widely used dapps are simple and uninteresting high-risk casino apps, while Ethereum hosts highly advanced and intricate dapps like Maker Dao (MKR).

As seen from the image above, Tron’s top dapps are all casinos but 1. Per the report, gambling dapps brought in nearly 350,000 new users in Q1 2019, which isexplains why Tron has experienced the fastest-growing dapp user base.

Moreover, the Tron blockchain has over 300,000 active dapp users, while competitor EOS has around 260,000. Meanwhile, Ethereum has only 72,422 old users that are still using dapps in 2019.

By the end of Q1 2019, the number of wallets created on the Tron mainnet reportedly exceeded $2.3 million, and 15.46% of wallets interacted with dapps. Out of all of Tron’s dapp users, 85% of them interacted with the dapps in the first quarter of 2019, making Tron the most active dapp blockchain.

Final Thoughts

As previously reported by IIB, dapps from other blockchains have been moving over to Tron as its founder Justin Sun has proposed a fund to move dapps from EOS and Ethereum to Tron. As well, Sun has proposed various dapp development initiatives which have impacted the amount of dapp development significantly.

However, while Tron has the fastest-growing dapp user base, they don’t really have the most sophisticated dapps, as the majority of them are gambling dapps. Therefore, until something really extraordinary gets developed on the Tron blockchain, you can’t put too much weight on these dapp statistics.

Do you think Tron will eventually develop outstanding dapps that are actually interesting? Or are they just focused on the number of users they can get? Let us know what you think in the comment section below.
