It’s almost time for the biggest event of Lisk thus far: the Lisk relaunch. The Berlin-based blockchain company will host this event on February 20, 2018 in their hometown.
If you’re new to Lisk, see our 4 part series that provides a comprehensive overview of what Lisk does.
As the CEO of Lisk, Max Kordek, said in a recent video:
2017 was a year of preparation, the year of scaling up to Lisk team. For us to go with full force and full power into 2018. Everything will kick-start with our relaunch event.
The popularity and awareness of Lisk has been on the rise, which is indicated by the rising number of Reddit subscribers and Twitter followers in their community. Over the course of 2017, Lisk has been steadily developing their blockchain and moved from a team of three people to over 30 people working full time on the Lisk blockchain. Moreover, they’ve had 27 meetups around the globe, from North America to Asia.
Now that the relaunch and potential new revelations of their technology are around the corner, Lisk’s price has steadily rising, indicating that the project is building momentum. Even during the major correction of last month, Lisk stood strong and outperformed most of the top 100 cryptocurrencies.
The Relaunch Event
On the evening of February 20, Lisk will host its relaunch event in Berlin. They’re expecting an audience of about 500 people, consisting of community members, journalist and blockchain enthusiasts.
But Lisk is a global project and to make sure their entire community will be able to see the event live, Lisk will livestream the entire event from 8:30 CET on their Youtube channel.
So what can you expect from the event? Well, the Lisk team will first provide updates on recent developments, team status and the finances of the Lisk foundation, etc.
More exciting is their new branding strategy. Lisk will announce a new logo and an entire new brand identity. Will there be a change in name? Probably not, but we’ll have to wait just a few more days for this information.
The new brand identity will encompass:
- New user interface
- New user experience
- New website
- New logo
- New Lisk app
- New wallet
Even though the event is mainly based on the new brand identity, the community is also expecting big technical announcements. The release of the Lisk Core 1.0 is expected to happen quite soon after the rebranding event, which will be the release of the first official Lisk platform.
Additionally, it is also expected that the alpha version of the Lisk Software Development Kit (SDK) will be released quite soon after the rebranding. With this kit, developers are able to create applications on the Lisk blockchain. Whether Lisk’s much-anticipated sidechains will be released any time soon still remains a mystery.
Speaking of Lisk’s highly innovative sidechains, Max Kordek has announced a pledge of 1.7 million of his own Lisk coins to high quality sidechain projects. This is roughly $50 million and these funds will be stored in their Pioneer’s Vault. Based on the quality assessment of the Lisk team, the Lisk coins will be distributed to projects with the potential to vastly strengthen the Lisk blockchain and ecosystem.
Building Momentum
With this event, Lisk has been building momentum; and just at right time, as the market seems to have escaped its bear trend. Once all their tech is released, we can expect announcements of new applications and ICOs on the Lisk blockchain. Currently, there are already 4 ICOs and projects planned on Lisk.
Now, let’s see what the Lisk team has in store for us!
