Financial assets rating agency, Weiss, has tweeted that Microsoft’s communication app, Skype, might soon integrate XRP into its platform, allowing users to tip each other and send microtransactions via the XRP TipBot.
The XRP TipBot, which was developed by XRPL Labs, is already used on platforms like Reddit, Twitter, Gmail, and Microsoft Outlook. The addition of support for Skype also saw the creation of a post on the Skype forum that requested support for XRP, and the post received over 2,000 votes. Microsoft, which owns Skype, is also testing blockchain technology and several projects make use of its Azure cloud platform.
Tipping services have grown in popularity recently, with it now being possible to tip Twitter users with the help of the Lightning Network. Peer-to-peer user transactions are slowly taking off as developers offers users the services they want.
Weiss Ratings released a report earlier this year that rated several cryptocurrencies based on their overall outlook and their technology/adoption. Bitcoin was joined at the top by EOS and XRP, with Ethereum coming second both in terms of overall rating and technology/adoption.
